R60 million revamp for hotel and casino

Graceland Hotel, Casino and Country Club has undergone a R60-million refurbishment.

The Graceland complex in Secunda, Mpumalanga, has completed its refurbishment of the Peermont Walmont Hotel, the Casino and Country Club.

The Peermont Walmont Hotel has renovated three of the four floors, including the junior and presidential suites. The 98 rooms and suites offer views overlooking the golf course or pool terrace.

The entertainment centre now features new games in the arcade, and a childcare facility, KidzDen, has been introduced. The outdoor Thunder Valley Family Centre now has a 310m go-kart track with new go karts and a digital clocking system. General Manager, Willem van Rooyen, says family-friendly entertainment is one of Graceland’s top priorities. The pool area, near the golf course, has been renovated.

A new cocktail bar, Moo Bar, has opened and there are two restaurants, the Blue Bayou and the Madison Bistro and Family Restaurant. The Rootz Boutique spa has also been upgraded. Graceland’s main and smoking casinos have been extended and offer new slots games. The new Rockefeller’s Privé has 38 high-definition slot machines and four gaming tables.

The 18-hole golf course, which is outside the main complex, is Gary Player designed. The irrigation system, bunkers and cart paths have been upgraded and the chipping areas have been rebuilt.
