The UK’s biggest showcase of one of the fastest growing consumer markets in the world is to return for its third consecutive year.

Muslim Lifestyle Expo 2017 (MLE2017) – the world’s leading platform of the trillion pound Muslim lifestyle market – returns to Manchester with its 2017 edition. Over 150 international and UK businesses are set to feature across 6 000 square metres of exhibition space with 15 000 visitors expected over the two-day event. Organisers of the MLE2017, with Asda as headline sponsor, say this year’s showcase will be bigger than ever featuring live fashion and cookery shows, seminars from leading speakers and dedicated kids and sports zones. Brands signed up to attend include Tesla, RAF, British Army, Lexus, Toyota, The Body Shop, Rubicon, My Lahore, Haute Elan and Manchester Art Gallery.

The Muslim lifestyle sector is now recognised as one of the fastest-moving consumer markets in the world growing at nearly double the rate of the global economy. A recent report revealed that the global expenditure of Muslim consumers on food and lifestyle sectors grew 9.5% to $1.9 trillion in 2015 and is projected to reach $3 trillion by 2021.
Rauf Mirza, co-founder of MLE2017, said this year’s event will promote the positive contributions of British Muslims to society across the business and community levels.

Mirza says: “We are delighted to be back for a third consecutive year. MLE is a positive showcase connecting businesses to consumers who are seeking growth in this fast-growing sector regardless of faith. We would like to emphasise that MLE is an inclusive event for everyone – irrespective of faith – to celebrate the positive values and vibrant aspects of British Muslims and their contribution to society. Our aim is to showcase Muslim lifestyle in a fun and enjoyable way.”

He continues, “As such we have extended a warm welcome to multi-faith groups and encourage every member of society to join us to celebrate our common values in humanity as well as common expectations from life. The Lord Mayor of Manchester will attend the event to receive a special painting by the renowned Islamic artist Siddiqa Juma to commemorate the tragic Manchester Arena attack. We are looking forward to what we are hoping is a fantastic family event and hope to break some records on the number of visitors who attend.”

MLE2017, now in its third year, has been designed to provide a unique marketing platform for brands and businesses to engage with the Muslim consumer by bringing together a number of sectors under one platform over a two-day exhibition. This year’s showcase welcomes brands from Canada, Malaysia, Singapore, France, UAE, Iran, Qatar and Jordan and will feature fashion, food and drink, travel, media, Islamic finance, and health and beauty. The interactive Expo will also feature a live catwalk showcasing international modest fashion brands from around the world and performances by Britain’s Got Talent 2017 semi-finalist Daliso Chaponda, Tez Ilyas, (Mock the Week, Edinburgh Fringe, BBC, C4) and Masterchef 2017 winner Saliha Mahmood-Ahmed. A live food demo theatre will feature top chefs alongside dedicated health and kids zones.

Thought leaders will highlight the growth of the Muslim lifestyle markets and share business insights at eight seminars discussing topics such as Empowerment of Muslim Women, Challenging Hollywood’s depiction of the ‘Muslim baddie’ and Anti-Muslim attitudes in society. A seminar on ‘What Muslim Consumers Want’ – the first launch in the UK at MLE2017 – will share insights from a global survey providing marketing insights into Muslim consumer behavior and ‘How supermarkets are meeting Muslim consumer demands.’
